What makes an EV tire different
- Higher load capacity (often marked XL or HL) for the weight of the battery
- Low rolling resistance to protect driving range
- Noise-reducing construction, sometimes with foam inside the tire
- Compounds built to resist the wear of instant torque
Can I fit a normal tire to an EV?
Only if it matches the size, load index and speed rating on your car's door sticker. A tire with the right size but too low a load rating is not safe on a heavy EV. We check the rating before we recommend.
